Author: Imam Al-Humaydī (219H)
Imām Abū Bakr ʿAbdullāh ibn az-Zubayr al-Ḥumaydī (d. 219H) — one of the leading scholars of ḥadīth in Makkah and among the teachers of Imām al-Bukhārī. He was known for his firm adherence to the creed of Ahl as-Sunnah wal-Jamāʿah (the people of the Sunnah and the community).
This concise yet profound treatise is among the earliest works written to clarify the creed of Ahl as-Sunnah wal-Jamāʿah.
In it, Imām al-Ḥumaydī presents the core beliefs of the Salaf (the pious predecessors) regarding:
- Belief in Allāh’s Names and Attributes — affirming them as they are without distortion, denial, or comparison.
- Following the Sunnah and abandoning innovations (bidʿah).
- The correct stance toward the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ.
- Faith (Īmān) and divine decree (Qadar).
- Obedience to Muslim rulers in what is good and permissible.
This work serves as a foundational text of Sunni creed, referenced by many later scholars such as Imām Aḥmad, Ibn Khuzaymah, and others.
The Aqeedah of Imam Humaydī, is explain by our Shaykh Abdullāh Al- Bukharī.
