Al-ʿAwāmil al-Miʾah ("The Hundred Governing Agents") is one of the classic foundational texts of Arabic grammar. Imām ʿAbd al-Qāhir al-Jurjānī, the great master of Arabic language and rhetoric, gathered the hundred governing agents (ʿawāmil) that cause the endings of words to change. He grouped them into three categories: verbal agents learned by transmission, verbal agents governed by analogy, and abstract agents. For centuries, madāris across the Muslim world have taught it as one of the first steps in naḥw.
This new commentary explains the text using a simplified teaching method and a modern, structured classroom style. Its explanations are clear and its examples are well chosen, which makes this classical text accessible to today's student without losing its depth. The commentator has also verified the text and added explanatory notes.
