Author: Jamāl ad-Dīn al-Qāsim ibn ʿAlī al-Ḥarīrī (d. 516H)
Mulhat al-Iʿrāb is a famous didactic poem on Arabic grammar by al-Harīrī, the celebrated master of the Arabic language and author of the Maqāmāt. Written in easy rajaz verse, it covers the essential chapters of nahw. Students across the Muslim world have memorized it for centuries as a step between the beginner texts and the larger works.
In Tuhfat al-Ahbāb, the Yemeni scholar Bahraq al-Hadramī explains the poem line by line. He clarifies its rules and supports them with examples and evidence in a clear, student-friendly style. This edition presents the commentary with a scholarly study and verification of the text by Bashīr ʿAbdullāh al-Massārī.
